Tamara Bowman
Manager
Tamara has lived in Chewelah nearly all her life, moving here when she was four years old when her dad retired from 20 years of service with the U.S. Navy. Her parents moved back to the area to be near family, which allowed her to grow up in Chewelah’s wonderful, tight-knit community. She feels very fortunate to live here and to be able to provide high-quality customer service and insurance products to her clients, both here and in neighboring communities.
Tamara is a breast cancer survivor. It is a title that she is very proud of and the entire process was an experience that gave her a new, more appreciative outlook on life. When she’s not at work you will find Tamara with her family. She loves spending time in the outdoors with her husband and youngest son. She loves camping, fishing, hunting, hiking and skiing. She also enjoys spending time with her older children and her grandchildren. Last, but not least, she absolutely loves watching her youngest play sports . . . baseball is her favorite!
Tamara has been in the insurance industry since 1995, beginning in personal lines and more recently dedicating her focus on commercial business. She earned her CISR (Certified Insurance Service Representative) designation in 2001 and continues to update her knowledge of the industry each year through continued education courses, networking, meetings and seminars. She loves working in both fields of insurance, but finds that she enjoys the challenges brought by the commercial side of the business. She also finds it’s fascinating to learn of the many different types of business exposures that exist within Chewelah and the surrounding communities and appreciates the trust her clients place in her when they allow her to assist them with their insurance needs. Tamara strives to provide excellent, efficient customer service at a reasonable cost and feels that her dedication to her customers is reflected in the service they receive. She feels that the absolute best complement she can receive is when her clients refer their family, friends and acquaintances to her! Tamara looks forward to continuing to grow her book of business, providing customer service that’s a step above the norm.

Valerie Skirlaw
Agent
My name is Valerie Skirlaw and I’ve been in the insurance business for 11 years; prior to that I was in the floral industry working at several different shops up until I became a floral manager at a local grocery store. In 2006 I saw an opportunity to get involved in the insurance industry and took a leap of faith. I’m so happy that I did! Being a people person, I enjoy getting to know my clients and helping them understand their policies and coverage. I’ve found that a lot of times agents have a tendency to not take the time to make sure their clients understand the coverage they have, and clients usually don’t ask because they know they need insurance. I like breaking down the shop talk and making sure they have a clear knowledge of what they are purchasing. I’m really happy with my career choice and I’m looking forward to helping you with your personal home and auto insurance needs.

Bill Boyd
CEO
Bill met his wife Marianna in biology class at Antelope Valley Junior College in 1989. He married his beautiful wife on Halloween 1992. Knowing that they were not happy living in the Los Angeles area, they decided to move to the inland Pacific Northwest. They now have Two Daughters and Two sons, a perfect family.
Bill started his career as a stock broker with Waddell & Reed. After 3 years of working many long hours, Bill decided that being a stock broker was too hard in Spokane, so he looked around and decided to start selling auto and home insurance. After a short stint with a local independent broker, Bill decided to start Boyd Financial. In 1996, he brought on a partner, Jim Brown, and they incorporated to Boyd, Brown & Co, Inc. In 1998 Jim decided that he no longer wanted to sell insurance and Bill purchased his partner’s share of the agency. Now, as the sole owner, Bill has grown the agency into a well-respected member of the community.
